BAER TEST

What Is a BAER Test?

The BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) is a neurologic test to evaluate the

function of the hearing pathway.

It is commonly referred to as the ABR (Auditory Brainstem response) in humans. It is

utilized during newborn hearing screenings, complex neurosurgical surgeries and

pediatrics.

The BAER is the only test to scientifically determine if hearing loss exists in one or both

ears.

Is my DOg Deaf?

Is your dog ignoring you? Can they not locate your voice? They may not be able to hear you!

Dogs have many senses available to them and hearing is not the only one.

They smell, feel and hear.

Even though it may seem your dog is responding to sound, it is possible they are responding to vibration or smell a familiar scent.

There are other reasons to be concerned about hearing in dogs. There are genetic markers associated with hearing loss:

1. White coat

2. Blue eyes

3. Merle (dapple)
